Welcome to Berry Moor Farm
We are working farm situated near Barnsley. We are a small new farm based on a very old site. The house and original barn was built in the late 16th Century and over the years a variety of other buildings have been added. We moved to the farm in April 2021 after it had been empty for a number of years.
Our story is unlinke many other farms in the area which have been owned or leased by the same family for hundreds of years. Until we took on Berry Moor, the closest we had been to farming was keeping a pet pig (more about her later) and a couple of horses. Our taking on this wild adventure was for a number of reasons; our eldest son was at Askham Bryan College taking a course in agriculture and all he ever wanted to do was farm (not easy to get experience if your family don't farm and you're in the middle of a pandemic!). We also have a habit of saying "yes" to keeping animals that other people wouldn't want in their little semi-detached house - hence keeping a pig at home! We also wanted a fantastic place for our kids to grow up in a safe environment in amazing countryside.
We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world and we would LOVE to share it with YOU. We are not a petting zoo, and our animals are mainly going to be kept for meat, but there are one or two characters here who will always be pets. The other side to our faem is that we can offer a whole host of services, including experience days for inidivudals, schools, groups and families to come and experience the great outdoors on a real working farm.
Please take a look at what we can offer and get in touch with us to discuss your ideal farm day! We look forward to hearing from you and meeting you.
